15 days, 17 hours, 9 minutes

seven minutes
maybe five
in august
or
before.
two more
in march
guaranteed the
sixty of
unrecognized-
for-
what-
it-
was
silence
and an afternoon
of pretend
with a party face.
giving birth
to
two hours
of fume
from the shotgun,
two of lets discuss
and
order
a
pizza,
and 36 of
all
is
well
but
maybe
not
quite.
and then a flight.
ten days of
i
love
yous,
then
two with
no
words.
then.
finally.
one of sunshine.
followed by
one
of
its
foil.
mighty minutes
and
hours
and days,
but still
no match for the
nineteen
years
of
yore
and the
unending
stretch ahead.

and I sit here
like a girl
and
wonder
whats wrong with you
while you read
or
curse
or
sob
or
hate.
like a girl
i cry
and
think
that somehow
i’ve lit
some
unknown
hidden
fuse.
i wallow
in oblivion,
like a girl,
for awhile.
and then,
like a woman,
I remember
that this
waiting
for
attention
feels familiar.
